Terms of Service
Last updated: May 7, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of StrikeMaps (the “Service”), operated by StrikeMaps (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Service — including the live map, the StrikeMaps Pro subscription, and Storm Report purchases — you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What StrikeMaps Is
StrikeMaps is an informational tool that visualizes publicly available severe weather data, including storm reports from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Storm Prediction Center (SPC), radar imagery from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet’s NEXRAD mosaic, and mapping, satellite, and geocoding services from Mapbox and OpenStreetMap contributors. The Service includes a free public map and paid features such as Storm Report PDFs and the StrikeMaps Pro subscription. It is intended as a reference for roofing contractors, public adjusters, storm chasers, and the general public.
3. No Warranty; Not For Life-Safety Use
The Service and all data presented through it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Storm reports are preliminary, may contain errors, and are routinely revised by the issuing agency.
Do not use StrikeMaps for life-safety decisions. For active warnings, evacuation decisions, or emergency response, rely on the National Weather Service, local emergency management, and official broadcasters.
4. Accounts
Some features require an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a security or abuse risk.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or automate requests against the Service in a manner that degrades performance or circumvents rate limits.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code or underlying data structures.
- Use the Service to build a competing product or service.
- Use the Service in violation of applicable law or third-party rights.
- Remove, obscure, or alter StrikeMaps branding, attribution, or disclaimer language from any output of the Service.
Nothing in this Section limits your right to use, share, or distribute Storm Reports you have purchased in accordance with Section 7.
6. Subscriptions, Purchases & Refunds
StrikeMaps offers paid features including one-time Storm Report purchases and recurring subscriptions (such as StrikeMaps Pro). Pricing, billing cadence, and feature scope are presented at the time of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the next billing date.
We may change pricing or feature availability on reasonable notice. Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor; StrikeMaps does not store full payment card details on its systems.
6.1 Refund Policy
Storm Reports are generated on demand from public weather data and delivered as a finalized PDF. Because each Report is custom-generated for a specific address and storm date, all sales are final once the Report has been generated and delivered. Subscription fees for any billing period in which the subscription was active are likewise non-refundable, except where required by law or as specifically described below.
We will issue a refund in the following cases:
- Technical failure on our end. The Report fails to generate, the PDF is unreadable, or the delivery email never arrives despite our records showing your purchase.
- Wrong Report content. The delivered Report is for a different address or date than what you ordered.
- Duplicate or accidental charge. You were charged more than once for the same order, or you can demonstrate the purchase was made in error before the Report was delivered.
We do not issue refunds for:
- The number or severity of storm reports found at your address. The Report reflects available public data; we cannot guarantee a specific outcome.
- Buyer’s remorse after a successfully delivered Report.
- Reports flagged “Limited Data” at the time of purchase that you elected to generate anyway.
To request a refund, email support@strikemaps.com with your Report ID (SM-YYMMDD-NNNNN) and a brief description of the issue within 14 days of purchase. Approved refunds are issued through Stripe to the original payment method and typically post within 5–10 business days.
Fair use of unlimited features. Subscriptions described as “unlimited” — including the unlimited report generations included with StrikeMaps Pro — are subject to fair-use limits intended to prevent abuse, automated bulk generation, and resale-style workloads. For annual StrikeMaps Pro subscriptions, fair use is targeted at typical business volumes: generally up to approximately 1,500 Reports per twelve-month subscription cycle. If your anticipated use exceeds that threshold, contact us before subscribing so we can discuss a custom arrangement. We may rate-limit, suspend, or downgrade accounts that exceed fair-use thresholds, and we may terminate accounts engaged in automated abuse without prior notice or refund.
7. Storm Reports
When you purchase a Storm Report from StrikeMaps (a “Report”), the following terms apply in addition to the rest of these Terms.
7.1 What a Report is
A Report is an informational summary of publicly available severe-weather data — primarily NOAA SPC storm reports and NEXRAD radar imagery — assembled and presented by StrikeMaps for a property address you supplied.
7.2 License to use and share
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to print, save, share, and distribute Reports you have purchased — including delivering them to property owners, prospective customers, contractors, insurance carriers, and adjusters. This license is conditional on your continued compliance with subsection 7.3.
7.3 Attribution must remain attached
When you share or distribute a Report, you may not remove, obscure, crop out, or alter the StrikeMaps branding, the report ID, the verification QR code, the data-source attribution, or the disclaimer footer. White-label company information you add at purchase time is in addition to, not in place of, StrikeMaps attribution.
7.4 Disclaimers
Reports are provided “as is” and without warranty of any kind. Without limiting Section 3:
- We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for any particular purpose of the data presented in a Report.
- A Report does not establish that hail, wind, or tornado damage occurred at the property, and does not guarantee that an insurance claim will be approved, denied, or paid at any particular amount.
- A Report is not legal advice, an engineering assessment, an insurance adjustment, a damage estimate, or any other form of professional service. No professional services or fiduciary relationship is created by your purchase of a Report.
7.5 Independent verification
Before relying on a Report for any decision — including claim filings, repair recommendations, contract negotiations, or legal proceedings — you are responsible for independently verifying the underlying data with the issuing agency (e.g., NOAA SPC) and for engaging qualified professionals as appropriate.
7.6 No third-party reliance
Reports are produced for and sold to the purchasing customer. StrikeMaps owes no duty of care to any third party who receives, reviews, or relies on a Report obtained from a customer or any downstream recipient. There are no third-party beneficiaries to these Terms.
7.7 Verification page
The verification page (e.g., /verify/{reportId}) confirms only that StrikeMaps generated a Report under that ID and that the record exists in our system. The verification page does not certify the accuracy, completeness, or interpretation of the data contained in that Report.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its UI, code, branding, and original compilations, is owned by StrikeMaps and protected by intellectual property laws. Underlying data layers are owned by their respective providers (see Section 9). We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. The license to use Reports is governed by Section 7.
9. Third-Party Data & Attribution
Data and imagery are sourced from NOAA / NWS Storm Prediction Center (storm reports), the Iowa Environmental Mesonet’s NEXRAD mosaic and RIDGE archive (live and historical radar), and Mapbox with OpenStreetMap contributors (cartography, satellite imagery, and geocoding) — each under its own license. See the Data Sources page for details. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party data.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, StrikeMaps and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including any Report. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim or (b) one hundred US dollars (US$100).
11. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless StrikeMaps from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Service or your breach of these Terms.
Without limiting the foregoing, you specifically agree to indemnify StrikeMaps for claims arising from (a) your distribution, marketing, or commercial use of a Report, (b) your reliance on a Report in any insurance, legal, or quasi-legal proceeding, and (c) any third party’s reliance on a Report you provided, transmitted, or made available.
12. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify or discontinue the Service, or update these Terms, at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, for any reason, including suspected violation of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 14 — will survive.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which StrikeMaps is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that jurisdiction, and you consent to their personal jurisdiction.
